Candice Lorrae is a gifted singer, songwriter, and producer, she is no newcomer to Australian music. She has been shaping her career for more than two decades. Born in Garramilla (Darwin), raised in Boorloo (Perth), and now based in Naarm (Melbourne), she is turning the spotlight inward by delivering music that is raw, magnetic, and impossible to ignore.

What makes her story even more compelling is the legacy she carries as the second great-granddaughter of Bett Bett, the young Aboriginal girl captured in iconic pieces of Australian literature: We of the Never Never, The Little Black Princess, and later The Girl Who Talked to the Stars. That spirit of storytelling runs deep in her veins. Her songs do not just play; they speak, reverberating with the strength of generations before her.

She describes her sound as “where soul meets folk and floats into a dream—that is the sonic world of Candice Lorrae.” Some fans have even playfully called her the ‘Blak Stevie Nicks,’ a little compliment that always brings a smile.

Offstage, she is reshaping the industry from the inside out. At The Candy Suite Studio, she has created a bold new space for First Nations women to write, record, and produce their own music. She also leads Singing Our Futures, one of the most dynamic mentorship programs in the country.

With a debut solo album and live show set to launch in 2026, Candice Lorrae is proving that some voices are not just heard—they are felt. Hers is one you won’t forget.

"Candice Lorrae is a proud Jawoyn and Torres Strait Islander woman,

whose heritage spans the Northern Territory and the Western Torres Strait."
